On December 10, 2021, 4th and 5th year students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages took part in the International Round Table “Anomaly in Language, Harmony in Speech”. The scientific conference, organized by the Department of French Phonetics and Grammar of Minsk State Linguistic University, was held at Minsk State Linguistic University and in the videoconference mode on the Zoom platform. The virtual presence of our students at the conference was organized by the Center for Information Resources of the French Language, the plan of which provides for educational consulting activities for students working on coursework and graduate studies.
Scientists from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation took part in the conference. Students were keenly interested in the reports “Analogy vs Anomaly: Principles of Language Description in French Grammars of the 16th Century” by E. N. Mikhailova, Professor of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology and Intercultural Communication, Doctor of Philology (Belgorod State National Research University) and “Franciscan Dialect: Myths and Facts” L. A. Stanova, Doctor of Philology, Professor of A. I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University. The problems of this message were especially close to students who mastered the basics of the Picard dialect in the course of studying the discipline “Second foreign language (theoretical course)”.
The undoubted benefit of participating in a prestigious scientific event is that students were able not only to get acquainted with the latest results of linguistic research, but also to study the features of verbal and non-verbal behavior when presenting the results of the research.
