Familiarization of foreign students with the rich history and culture of our country is one of the main tasks of the educational work of the Department for the implementation of programs for pre-university education and career guidance of the Continuing Education and Retraining College. On February 22, students from African countries and China took part in the meeting “Two languages became close to me from an early age”, dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.
The event was held at the cinema “Chyrvonaya Zorka”. The staff of the Mogilev Regional Methodological Center for Folk Art and Cultural and Educational Work organized an ethnographic exhibition of Belarusian life and showed interesting master classes for our students. The folk music ensemble “Magilyovtsy”, as well as the children’s theater “Apelsin” and the theater studio “V Tochku!” of Mogilev Children’s Art School No 1 presented their work to the guests.
The chairman of the Mogilev regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus Alexander Nikolayevich Kazeko and a member of the Mogilev regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus, singer-songwriter Valentina Gabruseva introduced our students to the traditions of literary and song creativity in the Belarusian and Russian languages. The audience also watched the documentary “Spadchyna” about the traditions and folk culture of Belarus.
The students were interested in the originality and brightness of the traditional Belarusian culture, as well as the musicality of the Belarusian language, which they heard for the first time in poetry and songs. It should be noted that the meeting was part of a complex of educational, informational and cultural events for foreign students of the Continuing Education and Retraining College, which are also implemented during the winter and summer schools of the Russian language.
