The Faculty of Foreign Languages has long and fruitfully collaborated with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Every year, 1 or 2 students of the faculty, thanks to the granted DAAD scholarship, can improve their knowledge of the German language at summer courses in Germany, get to know this country from the inside, discuss important political and socially significant topics with the course participants, learn stories of interesting people who with their ideas, work and initiative, they are changing the world for the better. This year students Arina Golosova (AN-31) and Anna Alekhno (AN-41) took part in summer language courses. They willingly shared their impressions.
Anna Alehno:
— I took part in the summer language course for learning German in the city of Kiel. At the beginning of training, we passed the exam, which consisted of two parts: a written grammar test and answers to examiners' questions. The main objective of this exam was to determine the level of German language proficiency. The courses lasted four weeks. During this time, we analysed both grammatical rules and touched on regional geographic topics. In our free time, a cultural program was organized for us: watching films in German, walking tours of historical places of the city, scientific reports on various topics, visiting museums, galleries and concerts, grill evenings, visiting cities such as Lübeck, Hamburg and Friedrichstadt. As you know, Kiel is the capital and largest city of Schleswig-Holstein, which is located on the shore of the Kiel Bay of the Baltic Sea. Kiel is a sailing centre. I was lucky to work out with this sport. I have so many emotions and unforgettable impressions! I should say that these courses are very useful and informative.
Arina Golosova:
— I took part in the summer German language course in the city of Bremen, which lasted from July 15 to August 9. She studied in a group in which the level of German proficiency is “B1”. In the classroom, we talked a lot and exchanged views. The course included a cultural program: visiting Hamburg, Luneburg, Hanover and Bremerhaven, as well as the island of Langeoog. The city quest, the purpose of which was to find answers to questions, resorting to the help of people on the street, made an unforgettable impression on me. I would like to note the friendly atmosphere in the group. Everyone was very friendly, they were ready to help. In Germany they attach great importance to the environment: they sort waste, save water and energy consumption. Moreover, anyone who has ever been to Germany will definitely recognize their favorite greeting “Moin!”.
