Our university was visited by a guest from Lomonosov Moscow State University — a famous Russian historian, associate professor of the Department of History of the Southern and Western Slavs, Candidate of Historical Sciences Borisenok Yuri Arkadievich. The visit took place within the framework of the activities of the “Development of the Higher Education System” subprogram of the State Program “Education and Youth Policy”. Yuri Arkadyevich said that he had arrived at the university for three days with the main goal – to get acquainted with students-historians of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University and talk with them during a full-fledged course of lectures.
“I can only say good things about the students of your university. I will meet with them again, because in December I will grade their tests. But three days of communication have already shown me that these are people who have a sufficient supply of historical knowledge, and it is quite pleasant for me to talk with them in this regard.”
Yuri Arkadievich also spoke about how the studying process was organized at Lomonosov Moscow State University during the pandemic: “I know that your university provides full-time education, while our education is mixed. Last year, lecturers delivered streaming lectures in person, now they are held remotely; but in small groups of up to 30 people face-to-face classes are possible, to which, by the way, I have a great attitude. Such classes are needed. I think when the pandemic weakens, face-to-face training will be the future, although of course there are advantages to distance learning as well. For example, a variety of educational courses are emerging, as well as a large number of resources that can help during exam preparation and self-study. But this should not replace face-to-face communication between the teacher and the students. Taking exams remotely is especially problematic, but we will have to go through it again during the winter session, whether we like it or not.”
