The Chinese Language Day marked the end of the academic year for children from the “Sinology” circle, who study at the gymnasium in Mstislavl under the educational program of the Chinese language training course. It was held on May 30 at the base of the regional House of Crafts.
The course program was developed by Chinese language teacher Zeng Yuxi, who is working at the Center for Chinese Language and Culture this academic year. As part of the program, the students made a correspondence tour of Zeng Yuxi’s hometown — Chongqing (one of the largest cities in China), got acquainted with its sights; took an active part in the calligraphy master class; improved their skills in using Chinese chopsticks. Conducting classes alternated with a game program, which was actively assisted by a student of the Faculty of History and Philology, Li Yujia. At the end of the program, students were issued state-recognized documents — certificates of education.
Conducting classes on the basis of the regional House of Crafts allowed everyone to get acquainted with its expositions. In particular, Zeng Yuxi and Li Yujia were especially interested in such types of arts and crafts as artistic forging, straw inlay and straw weaving, basket weaving, and pottery.
