According to the event plan, several workshops for the attendees of the Confucius Institute was held from March to April 2025.
Participants were introduced to the basics of Chinese gymnastics taijiquan (tai chi), which is considered a national treasure of China.
The workshop was led by the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, Wang Xiaomei, and Chinese language teacher, Chang Likun.
In her opening speech, Wang Xiaomei noted that the increasing demands in all areas of human life require greater attention to health preservation and the development of healthy lifestyle habits in everyday behavior. “One way to address this issue”, — she said, “could be Chinese taijiquan. Today, people of all ages — children, middle-aged, and elderly — turn to this practice. Tai chi is part of the curriculum in many Chinese schools and universities”.
Recently, this method has often been compared to yoga: it is equally beneficial for all muscle groups and for the body as a whole. Proper, steady breathing, inner harmony, and smooth, gentle movements are the main characteristics of tai chi. Afterwards, participants were introduced to the basic set of exercises, which they actively performed.
