The lectures analyze the main literary trends, ideological and thematic, genre and style features of the artistic phenomena of Russian literature of the first half of the 19th century. Most significant writers’ creativity is considered in the context of the general European patterns of literary development. The pan-European context is the basis for determining the national originality of Russian literature and its global significance. Artistic works are inscribed in the evolution of the creative individuality of their authors and are analyzed at a concrete historical and timeless level. Emphasis in assessing the fiction phenomena is made in accordance with the methodology of modern literary criticism. The theoretical component is aimed at mastering the terminological and conceptual apparatus as the basis of description and research language. Lectures are addressed to students-philologists and language teachers.
