From 10 to 15 May 2019, Elena Valeryevna Timoshchenko, Vice-Rector for Research and Liliya Zaitseva, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining, Head of the Chinese Language and Culture Centre, took part in the International Forum on Cooperation in the Field of Education “Silk Road”. Within the framework of the forum, which took place in the city of Xi'an (Shaanxi Province, China), thematic conferences were held at the base of universities, which are members of the Union of University think tanks within the framework of the initiative “One Belt - One Way” (OBOW). The forum was organized by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and Northwestern University.
The program of the visit was very rich. On May 11, our delegation took part in the inauguration of the international forum, the ceremony of signing an agreement on the joint construction of the Centre for the study of OBOW and the Eurasian Economic Union between Northwestern University and St. Petersburg State University of Economics.
On May 12, within the framework of the international conference “Promoting humanitarian communication with the wisdom of university think tanks”, Elena Timoshchenko made a presentation on the experience of the work of the MSKU scientific schools and their influence on regional policy.
On May 13–15, representatives of our university visited the Modern Institute of Northwestern University of Shaanxi Province, Xian International University, and also met with Lu Shanbin, Director of the Institute for Silk Road Research at Northwestern University. During the negotiations, possible directions and forms of cooperation were tentatively identified. In particular, they talked about the exchange of students, the work of summer schools, the organization of research in the field of history, culture and the conjunction of the Silk Road with the Eurasian Economic Union.
